Gomen Tray – Handwoven Tray from Ethiopia
The Gomen Tray is a handwoven tray made from natural grass, carefully crafted by talented female artisans from our partner Hope for Korah in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Within the Independent Basket Weavers’ Cooperative, women are given the opportunity to develop their skills and proudly showcase their craftsmanship.
The name Gomen comes from Amharic and refers to natural plant growth. This perfectly reflects the character of the tray: made from natural materials, with attention to tradition, sustainability and handmade craftsmanship.
The tray is entirely handwoven from grass using traditional techniques. This results in a sturdy, durable product with an authentic look. Each Gomen Tray is unique and shows the personal touch of the maker, meaning no two trays are exactly the same.
In addition to its artisanal value, the Gomen Tray also has a strong social impact. The work within the cooperative provides women with a stable income, making a real difference in their daily lives and contributing to independence and future opportunities.
The tray is available in two versions and can be used as a decorative bowl, serving tray, or stylish storage piece in your home.
